Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, provides technical support for research involving the development and application of ultrasensitive biomarker detection technologies. Performs laboratory experiments, documents experimental results, and analyzes data using appropriate statistical methods. A position is open for a full-time Research Assistant in the Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The laboratory develops and applies ultrasensitive protein detection technologies, including single molecule array (Simoa) and Molecular On-bead Signal Amplification for Individual Counting (MOSAIC), for biomarker detection and diagnostic applications. The candidate will develop, optimize, and perform ultrasensitive single- and multiplex protein assays to measure low-abundance biomarkers in human biofluids. Specific applications may include cancer biomarker detection and validation, early disease detection, treatment-response monitoring, and other diagnostic applications. The candidate will work independently, under general supervision, to perform experiments, optimize assay performance, analyze data, and measure biomarkers that may be undetectable using conventional methods. Research conducted by the candidate in collaboration with the research team will contribute to the development of new diagnostic technologies and address underlying biological questions. The position will also provide opportunities to interact and collaborate within the broader Harvard Medical School and Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering research environments.
