About The Position

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Research Assistant to join its Division of Biosciences. This is a grant funded full-time position. The Division of Biosciences is a multidisciplinary basic science unit committed to research and teaching in the broad area of biosciences, including dental, oral, and craniofacial sciences. All faculty members within the Division are engaged in active research programs and are funded by a variety of organizations including the National Institutes of Health. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented person enthusiastic about biomedical research to join a research laboratory studying drug repurposing for applications in dental and craniofacial tissue regeneration and repair.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED or 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree.
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biomedical science research is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory experiments and research activities as directed by the PI, following established protocols and standard operating procedures. Techniques may include basic cell culture, sample preparation, ELISA, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, PCR reactions, and cell‑based assays.
  • Assist with mouse handling, procedures, and routine animal care under supervision and in accordance with approved protocols and training.
  • Accurately record experimental procedures and results in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems; assist with organizing and consolidating data for review.
  • Assist the PI with preparation of research materials, including progress summaries, figures, posters, and abstracts, based on provided guidance.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, including ordering, stocking, labeling, and routine maintenance of research supplies and equipment.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and assist with compliance activities in accordance with OSU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Provide routine assistance and guidance to undergraduate students or new laboratory members on basic research methods and equipment operation, as appropriate.
  • Support scheduling, organization, and logistics for laboratory meetings and group activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
