About The Position

The laboratory of Mark Rubinstein investigates how the immune system is impaired by cancer cells and develops strategies to overcome immune suppression. The lab focuses on therapeutic approaches including immune checkpoint therapy, adoptive cell therapy, and vaccines. This research aims to deepen understanding of tumor biology, identify novel therapies, and uncover biomarkers. The Rubinstein Lab is seeking a temporary Research Technician 3 to provide technical and research support for ongoing projects. The successful candidate will contribute to day-to-day laboratory operations and research activities that advance the lab’s mission during a defined period of increased need.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological or health sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Ability to apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of laboratory-based research required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience in biological or health sciences preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily laboratory operations, including reagent ordering, animal colony management, and preparation of buffers/reagents.
  • Conduct research experiments and projects under the supervision of the PI or other senior members of the laboratory.
  • Assist the PI with grant preparation and manuscripts, and support senior postdoctoral researchers or other lab members in ongoing projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and laboratory protocols.
  • Process blood and other clinical specimens for cryopreservation.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments such as tissue and blood processing, flow cytometry, ELISA, imaging technologies, and related immunological techniques.
  • Engage part-time effort with the Immune Monitoring and Discovery Platform, helping with various activities in the facility including machine QC, learning new technologies, conducting flow cytometry experiments, and engaging with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
