Mindrift is recruiting native Dutch speakers living in New York City for a paid, in-person research study about how people use phones, apps, and everyday digital tools, and how those habits differ across languages and cultures. The study aims to help researchers understand how Dutch speakers use their devices so that future products work better for them. Participants will spend 1–3 days with the research team in Midtown Manhattan, walk the team through their everyday phone and app use, share examples of phone activity they choose to include, and complete a short questionnaire. Participation is voluntary and covered by a signed consent form explaining what is involved. Participants may ask questions at any point and may stop whenever they like. Applicants should be 18 or older and currently live in NYC; be native Dutch speakers who grew up in the Netherlands and use Dutch in everyday life; have used a smartphone as their main personal phone for at least three years; and be comfortable communicating in English. They must be available for three consecutive days (Monday–Wednesday or Thursday–Saturday), with the posting stating a start date of October 16 on Friday, and must not currently work for a tech or AI company. Applicants register on Mindrift and complete a short screening questionnaire; session dates are confirmed after shortlisting. Compensation is $1,200–$1,600 for the full study.
