About The Position

The Research Staff - Plant & Wildlife Sciences - UTTR Project Manager position involves working closely with US Fish and Wildlife Service employees to conduct surveys and monitoring efforts on the Utah Test and Training Range. This role requires extensive field work from April through August, during which the individual will be responsible for supervising a team of technicians and ensuring the completion of field work. The Project Manager will also prepare reports in accordance with US Fish and Wildlife expectations and ensure that all tasks appointed to BYU by the USFWS are completed annually. Candidates are expected to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment and, if members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must hold a current temple recommend and abide by university standards.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably majoring in wildlife biology, range management, or ecology, completed by the start date.
  • Education and background in plant and animal ecology and management, wildlife management, range science, soil science, or a combination of these fields.
  • Familiarity with working with plant and animal populations.
  • Familiarity with collecting field-based data.
  • Familiarity with implementing monitoring practices.
  • Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Abide by the university’s Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.
