About The Position

The Brauer Group Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Research Specialist to support Dr. Markus Brauer in coordinating and conducting studies. The lab's research focuses on group phenomena, aiming to understand how social group membership influences thought processes, perceptions of others, and behaviors. This research is approached from both basic science and applied, public intervention perspectives. The position can be full-time or part-time, ranging from 50-100% FTE.

Requirements

  • Experience in conducting human subjects research.
  • Experience with R, SPSS, Qualtrics, and/or other research software or coding.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative analysis.
  • Demonstrated academic or professional experience in social psychology, social norms, interventions, sustainability, and related areas.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and writing ability.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Experience with social media and public outreach.
  • Psychology or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences.
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders.
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s).
  • Collects data and monitors test results.
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports.
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers.
