Research Specialist C
About The Position
This position will require performing in vivo experiments designed to support the translation of tumor immunotherapies from the bench to the clinic; a high degree of skill, organization and attention to detail are needed. The successful applicant will assist in establishing and evaluating leukemic and solid tumor models for testing adoptively transferred genetically engineered T cells for treatment of cancer. Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining animal health in close coordination with animal facility staff, attending weekly meetings with the Director of the Stem Cell Xenograft Core, and performing intravenous injections, intraperitoneal injections, retro-orbital bleedings, tumor measurements, and luminescence imaging. The Research Specialist C will also process and analyze blood and harvested organs and work with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to track survival and clinical conditions of the animals. All animal work is conducted under approved IACUC protocols. Additionally, Research Specialist C will provide general support to the laboratory, such as lab maintenance, ordering and inventory record-keeping.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Biology or related field and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- The applicant should have 3 or more years of hands-on experience with in vivo animal procedures, including intravenous injections and blood sampling.
- The successful candidate works effectively within established study protocols, communicates clearly with study directors and colleagues, and thrives in a collaborative team environment
