About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance with tissue processing (histological sectioning and staining of hard tissues) and histological analysis specifically for research. Main duties will include: general tissue processing and assistance with tissue harvest for histology; histological sectioning of fixed and frozen tissues; development and optimization of immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent protocols; digitization of slides; digital analysis of stained tissue sections. This position will also provide assistance for clinical endocrine testing and other duties in the van Eps lab including participation in cell or tissue culture protocols, performing immunoassays, ex vivo mechanical testing and assistance with research protocols that involve handling live horses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Tissue harvest & processing including sectioning and mounting
  • Histological staining, digitization and analysis
  • Development and optimization of IHC/IF protocols
  • Perform laboratory endocrine testing and assist with immunassays
  • Assist with live horse research
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
