Research Specialist B The Research Specialist B will extract metabolites from a variety of biological matrices, perform targeted and untargeted LC/MS metabolomics assays, and carry out data analysis requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. In addition, the Research Specialist B will assist the Director with establishing new metabolomics assays, instrument maintenance, ordering chemicals and supplies, and maintain laboratory safety. Research Specialist C The Research Specialist C will extract metabolites from a variety of biological matrices, perform targeted and untargeted LC/MS metabolomics assays, and carry out data analysis requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. In addition, the Research Specialist C will assist the Director with establishing new metabolomics assays, instrument maintenance, ordering chemicals and supplies, and maintain laboratory safety. In addition, the Research Specialist C will independently develop new methods with minimal oversight and assist the Core Director with project management. Research Specialist D The Research Specialist D will extract metabolites from a variety of biological matrices, perform targeted and untargeted LC/MS metabolomics assays, and carry out data analysis requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. In addition, the Research Specialist D will assist the Director with establishing new metabolomics assays, instrument maintenance, ordering chemicals and supplies, and maintain laboratory safety. In addition, the Research Specialist D will assist the Director with the overall operation of the lab and provide training and supervision of lab technicians, undergraduate and graduate students. Additional responsibilities include contributing text and data for journal submissions, participating in meetings with research professors to design metabolomics experiments and analyze data, and independently develop new metabolomics assays and make improvements to existing assays. This position is contingent upon favorable funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. (Research Specialist B)
  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. (Research Specialist C)
  • Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. (Research Specialist D)

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of biological fluids and tissues for LC/MS metabolomics experiments.
  • Targeted and untargeted LC/MS metabolomics analysis of biological extracts.
  • Analysis of LC/MS metabolomics data.
  • Generation of metabolomics reports.
  • Ordering supplies.
  • Lab organization and maintenance.
  • Establishing new metabolomics assays.
  • Project Management.
  • Assist Metabolomics Core Director with the operation of the lab.
  • Train and supervise lab technicians, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-docs.
  • Participate in meetings with research professors to design experiments, review data, and contribute to manuscripts for publication.
  • Independently develop new metabolomics methods and improve existing methods.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
