About The Position

The MINDSET lab, directed by Dr. Jasmeet Hayes, studies the relationships among physical and psychological trauma, cognition, and the brain using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) metrics. The lab also examines neural correlates of memory in healthy and clinical populations. This Research Technician role will assist in the general coordination and conduct of research within the MINDSET lab.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field or equivalent experience.
Programming experience in either UNIX or MATLAB.
Experience in neuroimaging data analyses.
Knowledge of software packages, such as FreeSurfer, FSL, AFNI, or SPM.

Nice To Haves

No prior experience required with a Bachelor’s degree.
Two (2) years of relevant experience with an Associate’s degree.
Four (4) years of relevant experience with a High School diploma.

Responsibilities

Administer neuropsychological tests and/or questionnaires to young and older adults.
Recruit, screen, and schedule human subjects.
Coordinate subject appointments (cognitive, MRI, and physical fitness assessments).
Manage subject payments and submission of institutional review board (IRB) amendments.
Assist with participant recruitment efforts between the laboratory and community partners.
Assist with research lab purchases and maintain lab supplies.
Assist with cognitive, MRI, and medical history data collection, including obtaining informed consent, cognitive testing (computer and paper and pencil based testing), and MRI data acquisition.
Assist with cognitive and MRI data processing and analyses, including analyses of behavioral data and MRI data using openly available software like FSL, AFNI, or SPM and/or UNIX or MATLAB.
Oversee undergraduate research assistants.
