The Research Scientist will work in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine’s Research Division at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, in the lab of Dr. Kelly Doran. The role supports NIH-funded research on the intersection of housing and health, particularly homelessness and substance use. The lab conducts community-partnered clinical trials, quantitative research—including survey research and analysis of large, linked administrative datasets—and qualitative research. Active projects include studies of overdose prevention interventions in supportive housing and the substance-use and other health impacts of pandemic homeless hoteling initiatives. The Research Scientist will lead work on existing and potential future studies and help ensure their successful implementation and dissemination. The position requires independent oversight of quantitative data collection, management, analysis, project management, and research writing, along with effective communication with the study PI, Program Manager, research staff, and partners from community organizations, government agencies, and people with lived experience of housing insecurity. Qualitative research experience is beneficial. The position is based in Manhattan, with some remote work allowable.
