About The Position

The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Scientist to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team in College Station, TX. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine.

Requirements

  • PhD in Biology or related area
  • Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Presentation skills.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff

Nice To Haves

  • Solid experience in at least several of these disciplines that includes: stem cell, exosome, EVs, organoid, microrna, lncrna, histone, methylation, molecular and cell biology, epigenetics, mouse model, and bioinformatics skills.
  • Research experience in metabolic disorders specifically diabetes and obesity
  • Significant publications record in high impact journal
  • Ability to independently run projects
  • Experience in a highly dynamic lab of several postdocs, students, and professional students.
  • Experience designing novel experiments and concept in several basic, translational, and clinical projects in metabolic diseases and pregnancy disorders
  • Good computer literacy including databases, standard software platforms, sequencing analysis, spread sheets and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex independent research into their field of expertise.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise.
  • Oversee the preparation and cleaning of worksite.
  • Organize worksite and determine what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner.
  • Analyze research data and summarize results.
  • Write and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
  • Assist with grant acquisition.
  • Assist with development and implementation of new experimental procedures, concept, and grants.
  • Maintain electronic data base with experimental protocols and laboratory procedures: PowerPoint presentations.
  • May assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientists, and/or Associate Research Scientists who are working on research related to the project.
  • May supervise assigned staff and/or students.
  • Prepare presentation materials on research topics that may be presented to small and/or large groups.
  • Actively participate in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
  • Manuscript preparations in a timely manner.
  • Manage overall operations of research laboratory.
  • Order and maintain inventories of laboratory supplies, instruments, and basic equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate with others for laboratory operations as needed.
