About The Position

The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a leading public research university dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for its students, faculty, and staff. The Computational Chemistry and Bioinformatics Research CORE (CCBRC) within the Glycoscience Center of Research Excellence (GlyCORE) at the University of Mississippi is seeking a CORE Manager at the Research Scientist rank. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CCBRC, which serves as a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence. The CCBRC focuses on computational glycoscience, including calculations on small molecules with sugar moieties, glycoconjugates like glycoproteins, protein-ligand interactions involving glycosylation, and bioinformatics analysis of large datasets such as mass spectrometry outputs for glycoconjugate mixtures. The position will also involve bioinformatics for glycosylation pathway analysis.

Requirements

  • Computational PhD with specialization in glycoscience, medicinal chemistry, chemistry, biology, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
  • Outstanding publication record.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out required calculations.
  • Train other scientists and students to perform calculations.
  • Ensure GlyCORE participants are aware of CCBRC capabilities.
  • Hold primary responsibility for computer hardware and software maintenance.
  • Write initial drafts of reports.
  • Take an active role in disseminating CCBRC results and capabilities.
  • Handle other duties involved in the management of CCBRC.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CCBRC facility.
  • Present results of CCBRC's research at GlyCORE meetings and national meetings (e.g., Society for Glycobiology, American Chemical Society).
