About The Position

Conduct and lead routine analytical characterization and the development of analytical methods to enable the analysis of biomolecules and impurities in the lab. Design scientific studies with clear goals and deliverables. Summarize and present scientific results and recommendations internally and externally. Work closely with the Cell Engineering, Process Engineering, and Bioproprocessing teams to facilitate and enable R&D development of protein and biopolymers processes. Draft SOPs and research reports as required. Maintain instruments, communicate with equipment vendors, and specify equipment needs.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar field and two years of industry experience analyzing proteins, peptides, polysaccharides, and small molecules.
  • Alternatively, a master's degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar field and five years of industry experience analyzing proteins, peptides, polysaccharides, and small molecules.
  • Experience with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Liquid Chromatography (Reverse Phase, SEC), GC, and mass spectrometry instruments.
  • Experience with Agilent instruments and software.
  • Experience developing plate-based high-throughput assay and enzymatic study.
  • Familiarity with the entire metabolomics or proteomics pipeline (including sample preparation, LC/GC and MS operation, data analysis).
  • Experience with multiple sample preparation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of bioanalytical techniques (SDS PAGE, Western blotting, SEC, CD, or DSC).
