The Research/Data Scientist is responsible for conducting translational, implementation, and data science research in family medicine. The individual will use databases, surveys, and implementation methodologies to conduct quality improvement and intervention studies. The individual undertakes research studies in areas defined by the Vice Chair for Research or designee. Responsibilities will include all aspects of research from protocol and experimental design, study implementation in the clinical practices, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, independent grant writing and submission, abstract and manuscript preparation, and presentation at meetings. All work will be conducted with a minimum of direct supervision as defined by the Vice Chair for Research. Essential Functions Performs searches in databases, analyzes data, and prepares presentations. Provides instruction and mentors to residents, post-doctoral fellows, students, and research associates on the fundamentals of Family Medicine research, evidence-based medicine, research principles, and methodologies. Develops and performs translational, implementation, and data science research projects related, but not limited, to family medicine, chronic diseases, and infectious diseases. Collaborates on projects on the translational, implementation, and data science research projects related to family medicine Generates data quality checks, data reports, and analysis, and writes progress reports. Writes manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Prepares abstracts and presents research findings at local and national meetings. Conceives, develops, writes, and submits grant funding. Participates in safety and quality assurance activities. With minimal guidance, use advanced statistical and computational methods to deliver insights and strategic opportunities to improve quality and the patient experience. Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large-scale data analyses and model development, validation, and implementation. Proactively monitor and analyze complex projects to understand, diagnose, and continuously update project activities. Expertise in problem definition, i.e., able to translate research questions into analytical questions and translate analytical results into research solutions Write statistical methodology and results for technical reports and publications Manipulate, combine, and refine large databases to produce information suitable for analysis Develop algorithms for data analysis and write computer code to implement them Create graphics for data visualization and information display Partner with research leadership across the organization to collaborate on research projects Able to take leadership of multiple projects concurrently and accommodate frequent interruptions and changing priorities Able to influence research leadership to take action based on analytical insights Creates timelines for project management with little or no assistance. Ensures successful completion of assigned projects on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with research standards and ethics. Ability to translate advanced methodologies and complex results for non-technical audiences Conduct effective meetings with external and internal research leaders Essential Functions Performs searches in databases, analyzes data, and prepares presentations. Develops and Performs research programs in clinical rehabilitation medicine including community integration and motor recovery after brain injury, in rehabilitation interventions and recovery processes among individuals with disability, and other research projects. Collaborates on projects on the basic and clinical and translational aspects of clinical rehabilitation medicine. Generates data quality check, data reports and analysis and writes progress reports. Writes manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Prepares abstracts and presents research findings at local and national meetings. Conceives, develops, writes, and submits grant funding. Participates in safety and quality assurance activities.
