Research Scientist: Computational Physics

KLA•Ann Arbor, MI
•$105,900 - $180,000•Onsite

About The Position

KLA’s Ann Arbor physics modeling group is seeking a research scientist to support computational physics work, including plasma modeling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and mechanical vibrations modeling. The role collaborates closely with R&D and Engineering teams to understand design needs and define modeling requirements. Experience with rarefied gas flow modeling is a plus. The scientist will use CFD and thermal modeling to guide development of next-generation inspection and metrology tools, apply simulations based on multiple physical models, and build correlations with experimental data. The role also includes preparing modeling plans, schedules, and summary reports; communicating with collaborators and team members to maintain alignment; and coordinating and performing root cause analysis to solve problems. KLA’s Semiconductor Products and Customers business unit develops inspection, metrology, and analytics systems and other technologies for semiconductor manufacturing. Its Central Engineering organization includes nine Centers of Excellence across areas such as automation, motion control, sensors, platform design, and packaging.
