About The Position

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine is seeking a Research Scientist to assist and support Principal Investigators in the management of their research teams and the conduct of scientific investigation into the mechanisms of heart rhythm disturbances (cardiac arrhythmias) using high resolution microscopy and electrophysiology approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Science or related disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Management of operations for Radwański and Veeraraghavan labs
  • Management of colony of WT and genetically modified mice including performing basic care procedures and genotyping by polymerase chain reaction
  • Providing technical assistance to guide the development of novel genetically modified organisms for research
  • Performance of phenotyping and physiology studies including electrocardiography, electroencephalography, and telemetry measurements
  • Oversight and maintenance of accurate records of laboratory supplies and activities including handling procurement and inventory management
  • Handling regulatory aspects pertaining to research including obtaining and maintaining approvals from Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC)
  • Assisting with organized storage of scientific data including collation of material for manuscript and research proposal submissions
  • Assisting with training of lab members in basic lab procedures
  • Assisting lab members with experiments as needed
