About The Position

The Research Scientist I is responsible for conducting bioanalytical laboratory work, including sample preparation, LC-MS/MS analysis, data review, reporting, basic equipment maintenance, and study support activities while ensuring compliance with SOPs, applicable regulations, and safety requirements. This role requires the Research Scientist I to execute analytical procedures, manage laboratory materials, documentation, troubleshoot issues, and communicate deviations or project risks in a timely manner. Success in this role depends on delivering accurate, high-quality results while demonstrating strong organization, problem-solving, collaboration, and a proactive commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associates/technical degree and 2 years of qualified laboratory experience or BS or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with qualifying laboratory experience in degree program
  • A basic understanding of processes related to Bioanalysis including sample preparation, instrument / equipment operation and data processing and reporting.
  • Ability to use a computer to compile and maintain databases for records and inventory, utilizing the appropriate software.
  • An attitude for quality, an eye for detail, the ability to follow written instructions and work effectively with management to complete assigned tasks.
  • Basic understanding of GMP/GLP/GCP regulations with the ability to apply these practices as applicable.
  • A working knowledge and awareness of general laboratory procedures.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Following the safety rules in the lab and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Operating lab equipment and performing analyses according to the Operation Manuals, SOPs, Best Practices, and training.
  • Performing sample preparation, analysis, and reporting in support of bioanalytical studies including: Preparing stock and calibration solutions and QCs.
  • Using LC-MS/MS or alternate techniques as instructed to analyze study samples
  • Calculating and verifying the composition of samples (stock and calibration solutions, QCs and study samples).
  • Preparing analytical reports for client studies.
  • Notifying the Lab Manager and/or Principal Investigator of any deviations from the study protocol/SOPs/Best Practices or unexpected processes preventing the proper completion of bioanalysis and documenting as required.
  • Observing deadlines, producing timely results or communicating to management when deadlines cannot be accomplished.
  • Performing assigned general lab tasks, including data logging, routine maintenance of equipment, and general housekeeping.
  • Ordering reagents, parts and/or materials needed for the functioning of the Lab.
  • Handling, inventorying and managing incoming materials and samples, waste and shipping of samples to outside parties when needed.
  • Ensuring training files are properly maintained by keeping his/her CV current and for providing copies of certificates or documentation of training.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of Best Practices, SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (21 CFR, Part 58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description, and general facility operations.
