About The Position

C4 Therapeutics (C4T) (Nasdaq: CCCC) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to delivering on the promise of targeted protein degradation science to create a new generation of medicines that transforms patients’ lives. C4T is progressing targeted oncology programs through clinical studies and leveraging its TORPEDO® platform to efficiently design and optimize small-molecule medicines to address difficult-to-treat diseases. C4T’s degrader medicines are designed to harness the body’s natural protein recycling system to rapidly degrade disease-causing proteins, offering the potential to overcome drug resistance, drug undruggable targets and improve patient outcomes. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist I to join our Discovery Biology team. In this role, you will contribute to the discovery and development of novel targeted protein degraders for the treatment of autoimmune, inflammatory and neuroinflammatory diseases. You will be responsible to design and execute in vitro and ex vivo studies to interrogate immune mechanisms, validate therapeutic targets, and characterize the biological impact of novel therapeutic candidates. This role offers significant scientific ownership and close collaboration with cross‑functional teams. This is a hands-on, lab-based role where your contributions directly shape the next generation of immunotherapy.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Immunology with a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience, or an M.S degree with at least eight years of post-graduate experience, including direct experience with autoimmune or immunological diseases in non-oncology indications (e.g. Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, IBD, etc.), primary human immune cell isolation, culture, and functional assays and a strong background in immune cell biology relevant to autoimmune and/or inflammatory diseases.
  • Experience working with autoimmune or inflammatory disease models or autoimmune patient-derived samples.
  • Experience with in vitro cell stimulation assays and functional readouts, as well as proficiency in multicolor flow cytometry and other immunological techniques such as ELISA, MSD, qPCR, and western blotting.
  • Self-motivated, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in software such as PowerPoint, Word, GraphPad, FlowJo, etc., for data analysis, figure generation, and presentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Familiarity with targeted protein degradation, or small‑molecule drug discovery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and analyze in vitro and ex vivo assays using primary human cells relevant to autoimmune disease biology (e.g., PBMCs, monocytes, B cells, T cells, fibroblasts, neurons, etc.).
  • Perform flow cytometry, ELISA, cytokine profiling, and other immunoassays to assess compound activity and support mechanism of action and target validation studies.
  • Develop and optimize cell‑based assays using primary human immune cells and/or patient‑derived samples.
  • Isolate and culture primary human cells from blood samples or other suitable sources.
  • Integrate human biology, genetics, and translational biomarkers into experimental strategies.
  • Assist in identifying disease‑relevant readouts and pharmacodynamic biomarkers.
  • Stay current with autoimmune disease biology and therapeutic modalities, proposing new assays, models, or hypotheses.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including lead discovery, chemistry, and translational science to support program goals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Communicates data and findings in a clear/concise manner in team meetings and contributes to scientific discussions.
