The Department of Biochemistry is hiring a Research Scientist/Engineer Assistant to apply biochemistry and protein design to cancer immunotherapy. The work uses protein design to systematically modulate T cells and improve immune cell behavior in the context of cancer immunotherapy. The position is regular, full-time (100% FTE), and based on site, where the candidate will use provided desktop computers and computational tools developed at the Institute for Protein Design. The role focuses on designing de novo proteins against biologically and therapeutically relevant cancer and immune targets, including phosphatases and transcription factors. It also involves studying the immune cell biology and literature relevant to those targets, participating in weekly lab group meetings, and documenting computational workflows so that other lab members can understand and reuse them.
