About The Position

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is seeking a Research Scientist in the Chemical Engineering Department to collaborate with Dr. Richardson and students on developing and applying in vitro models of cardiac remodeling for novel therapy screens. This role will also involve day-to-day lab management, mentoring undergraduate researchers, training students in lab procedures, and presenting research findings through publications and conference presentations. The position is renewable annually based on continued need, funding availability, and satisfactory job performance. The Cardiac Systems Engineering Lab focuses on cardiac tissue remodeling and personalized medicine, building experimental tissue culture bioreactors to understand the complex systems regulating heart tissue structure and engineering personalized medicine approaches for cardiac disease.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment.
  • Experience in cell/tissue culture.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated excellence in previous research, supported by scientific publications.
  • Experience with stem cells and 3-dimensional tissue cultures.
  • Experience with multiplexed assays for high-throughput protein measurements.

Responsibilities
