About The Position

The Research Scientist 3 position involves assessing the preservation of biosignatures in microbial mat ecosystems. This role requires expertise in geobiology, field sampling techniques, mineralization of hot spring sinter and microfossil preservation, characterization of samples using X-ray Computed Tomography and analysis of resulting data, and petrographic thin section analysis. The scientist will work with interdisciplinary teams in both field and lab settings.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree
At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Expertise in geobiology of microbial mat ecosystems and related field sampling techniques
Expertise in mineralization of hot spring sinter and microfossil preservation
Expertise in characterization of samples by X-ray Computed Tomography and analysis of resulting data sets
Expertise in petrographic thin section analysis and characterization
