About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scientist 3 to join our Formulation team. In this hands-on laboratory role, you will independently execute and optimize the synthesis of targeted and non-targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for nucleic acid delivery. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong technical and data analysis skills who is ready to contribute to our non-viral delivery platform.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with relevant academic and/or biopharma industry experience; OR a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with 3+ years of industry experience.
  • 2 or more years of hands-on laboratory experience specializing in LNP formulation and encapsulation of nucleic acids (mRNA, siRNA, or DNA) for in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Highly proficient with standard LNP characterization methods, including Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Zeta potential, and Ribogreen assays.
  • Demonstrated level of expertise in MS Excel; hands-on experience with statistical and data analysis software (e.g., JMP, Prism).
  • Demonstrated level experience in the LNP field in the form of publications and/or patent filings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and bioconjugation chemistry is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization; you are hands-on, self-directed, organized, conscientious.

Responsibilities

  • Independently execute and optimize the synthesis of targeted and non-targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids for in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Lead DoE-based screening campaigns directed toward discovering LNPs, setting LNP composition specifications, and optimizing LNP formulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (biology, analytics, chemistry, and project management) to advance programs.
  • Support early-stage formulation development and downstream processing activities, including cryoprotection, scale-up, and stability studies as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records documenting formulation activities and results.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data in group meetings.
  • Troubleshoot formulation challenges and continuously improve workflows.
