About The Position

Texas A&M University Health Science Center's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science is seeking a Research Scientist to conduct complex independent research in their field of expertise. This role involves utilizing advanced techniques and strategies to address research questions, contributing to research papers and publications, and overseeing worksite preparation and cleaning. The Research Scientist may also collaborate with other researchers and faculty, and potentially mentor or supervise students and other research staff.

Requirements

  • PhD in behavioral neuroscience or closely related.
  • Six years of related experience in neuroscientific research.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 15 years experience in human and animal trials for neuropsychological research.
  • Experience with Huron, IRB, and other Texas A&M research systems.
  • Experience in grant acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting complex independent research into their field of expertise.
  • Utilizing advanced knowledge and skills to complete research projects.
  • Overseeing the preparation and cleaning of worksite.
  • Organizing worksite and determining necessary supplies.
  • Analyzing research data and summarizing results.
  • Writing and contributing to research papers, articles, and publications.
  • Assisting with grant acquisition.
  • Assisting student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientists, and/or Associate Research Scientists.
  • Supervising assigned staff and/or students.
  • Preparing presentation materials on research topics.
  • Actively participating in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
  • Assisting director with administrative functions for existing and developing programs.
