About The Position

The Barron cosmology group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of New Mexico is seeking a Research Scientist II to support the analysis of cosmic microwave background (CMB) datasets and assist with designing, testing, and deploying related instrumentation. The successful candidate will work with UNM faculty and students to analyze time-ordered telescope data and atmospheric and remote-sensing data, helping mitigate noise in ground-based millimeter-wave observations. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible staff position with a term end date of January 31, 2027. The position is based at UNM's Main Campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is not eligible for remote work. The successful candidate must complete a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required depending on the research, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services. A pre-employment background check is required.
