About The Position

Biomedical Research Model Services (BRMS) is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to join their team. This role is crucial for the operational implementation and management of an animal research digital platform, involving workflow development, user training, operational support, process improvement, system maintenance, and coordination across multiple research facilities. The position will collaborate with SMPH IT for technical support and system performance. While the initial focus is on platform implementation, the role will also encompass ongoing user support, training, system administration, and program-wide operational coordination, aiming to drive adoption, optimize workflows, ensure data integrity, and support continuous improvement. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Requirements

  • Experience coordinating operations, programs, or projects in a research, laboratory, healthcare, or other regulated environment.
  • Experience using business or operational software systems.
  • Experience developing procedures, documentation, or training materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, workflows, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn specialized systems and develop subject-matter expertise.
  • Strong communication skills across operational and technical teams.
  • Ability to train and support users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Ability to coordinate system implementation and adoption across multiple units or locations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make operational decisions.
  • Continuous work eligibility in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with laboratory animal research operations, vivarium management, or a regulated research environment.
  • Experience with research billing, per diem/census management, or cost-recovery processes.
  • Experience supporting regulatory or accreditation requirements, such as IACUC or AAALAC.
  • Experience using or managing facility, laboratory information, or animal management software.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims
  • Serves as primary operational liaison with SMPH IT
  • Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures
  • Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program
  • Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s)
  • Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives
  • Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information
