The Research Nurse I/II in the Division of Clinical Research Services will be responsible for patient/participant care within the clinical research environment. This role involves recognizing and utilizing systems and processes that impact the research participant experience, acting as a resource to team members, and anticipating the needs of participants and families. The nurse will tailor care practices to individual needs, promote safety, and increase awareness of potential adverse events. Key responsibilities include assessing participants with complex needs, developing care plans, prioritizing needs, and determining the clinical relevance of study procedures. The role also involves educating participants and families about research studies, ensuring the informed consent process is correctly carried out, and advocating for research participants. The nurse will guide others in performing procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and intervening for research care goals. They will ensure proper follow-up of study subjects, evaluate the effectiveness of research care, and collaborate with investigators. Proficiency in documentation and maintaining records for regulatory agencies and sponsors is essential. The position also involves a leadership role in process improvement, contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical research conduct. This includes assisting peers, coordinating discussions in various meetings, and participating in organizational performance improvement activities. The role requires self-direction, assuming responsibility for one's own learning, and integrating new knowledge into practice. The Research Nurse will act as a preceptor, guiding and contributing to the growth of others, and serving as a role model and department resource for clinical research and nursing practice.
