About The Position

Democracy Docket's Research team is looking for a motivated fall intern to support legal tracking, case documentation, and policy research. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of law, democracy, and politics. Our interns are embedded directly into Democracy Docket’s teams, where they gain hands-on, professional experience and contribute to meaningful projects. Interns also receive mentorship, regular feedback, and professional development opportunities to support their career growth.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or law student
  • Strong interest in law, democracy, and/or politics
  • Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Draft and update case pages for active and ongoing litigation
  • Track lawsuits and maintain accurate records of case developments
  • Provide timely legal updates to the research team
  • Conduct legal and policy research as needed

  • Flexible work schedule (15–20 hours/week)
  • Located in or able to commute to DC on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday weekly
