About The Position

Provides advanced-level research informatics expertise to support the Essentia Institute of Rural Health (EIRH), partnering with Research Scientists, Principal Investigators, and clinicians to deliver data for research studies. Leads the development and use of integrated data resources, ensuring accurate, timely, and meaningful data outputs that support a wide range of research initiatives. Builds collaborative relationships, guides data-related strategy, and supports the adoption of best practices and new technologies. This role operates with a high level of independence and contributes to advancing research informatics capabilities across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in computer programming, systems analysis, or a related role, including experience writing SQL queries in a research or analytical environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing SQL queries (SQL proficiency required)
  • Experience in Python or R
  • Experience working with Epic data (e.g., Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito) including Reporting Workbench and Slicer Dicer
  • Experience in a Research environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in REDCap Administration
  • Experience with a Clinical Trials Management System
  • Epic Certification/Accreditation

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced leadership, expertise, and coordination in research informatics to support data analysis, integration, and interpretation for EIRH
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex research data ecosystems leveraging multiple data models and diverse data sources
  • Design and deliver high-quality research datasets, analytic outputs, and reports, ensuring timely dissemination of accurate and actionable information
  • Lead the planning and implementation of data extraction strategies, data modeling approaches, and scalable data architectures
  • Build and manage relationships with internal and external partners to identify, acquire, and integrate new data sources
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support for team member skill development
  • Promote and enforce best practices in data management, governance, and analytics
  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies and techniques within supported toolsets
  • Operate with a high degree of independence, strategic thinking, and initiative
  • Play a key role in advancing research informatics capabilities across EIRH
