The Research Fellow will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians in the Translational Optical Molecular Imaging Laboratory at the Toth Center, Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, with an affiliated appointment at Harvard Medical School. The research focuses on novel time-domain, fluorescence lifetime-based optical imaging technologies for clinical and preclinical applications in cancer, neuropathology, and cardiac disease. This work combines advanced imaging technology, knowledge of disease biology, and molecular probes targeting disease pathology in vivo. Depending on the fellow’s experience, proficiency, and career goals, projects may include developing, maintaining, and operating optical imaging systems and image-reconstruction algorithms; designing animal and human protocols; conducting preclinical imaging studies involving basic animal procedures; performing in vitro cell culture and ex vivo histology and microscopy; and conducting clinical studies for image-guided surgery and diagnostics. The fellow will contribute to data acquisition and management, develop and execute analytical protocols, prepare publications and scientific presentations, disseminate findings through peer-reviewed journals and national and international meetings, and mentor junior staff. The laboratory offers scientific interactions and collaborations through seminars, symposia, and meetings focused on clinical research and related technology.
