The Research Fellow will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians in the Translational Optical Molecular Imaging Laboratory at the Toth Center, Massachusetts Eye and Ear’s Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, with an affiliated appointment at Harvard Medical School. The role focuses on novel time-domain, fluorescence lifetime-based optical imaging technologies for clinical and preclinical applications in cancer, neuropathology, and cardiac disease. The research combines advanced imaging technology with knowledge of disease biology and the development of molecular probes to target disease pathology in vivo. Depending on the candidate’s experience, proficiency, and career goals, the work may include developing, maintaining, and operating optical imaging systems and image reconstruction algorithms; designing animal and human protocols; performing preclinical imaging studies and simple animal procedures; conducting cell culture, ex vivo histology, and microscopy studies; and carrying out clinical studies for image-guided surgery and diagnostics. The fellow will participate in data acquisition and management, develop and execute analytical protocols, prepare publications and scientific presentations, disseminate results at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed journals, and mentor junior staff. The position offers opportunities for scientific interaction and collaboration through seminars, symposia, and other meetings focused on clinical research and related technology.
