About The Position

Monash University's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Clayton is seeking a skilled Research Fellow to take on a combined scientific and laboratory management role within a collaborative, discovery-driven research environment. This is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity for a researcher ready to contribute both at the bench and behind the scenes. The Role You will lead day-to-day laboratory operations while maintaining an active research contribution within the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology team.

Requirements

  • A PhD in immunology, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with immunology, molecular and cellular techniques, including flow cytometry
  • Proven ability to manage a research laboratory environment, including WHS obligations
  • Familiarity with grant reporting processes and research data management
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publication commensurate with career stage

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring or supervising HDR students or research assistants

Responsibilities

  • Managing laboratory workflows, equipment maintenance, consumables, and compliance with safety and ethics requirements
  • Contributing to experimental design, data collection, and analysis in support of active research projects
  • Supervising and supporting research students and staff in laboratory techniques and protocols
  • Coordinating onboarding of new laboratory members and maintaining standard operating procedures
