Research Fellow - Hematology - Mondello lab

Mayo ClinicRochester, MN
Onsite

About The Position

The Mondello lab is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow with 2-3 years of prior wet lab experience in a relevant biomedical field such as molecular biology, immunology, and/or genomics. The lab's research focuses on epigenetic dysregulations in B cell malignancy and their impact on the tumor microenvironment. The research involves combining genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic profiling of patient samples and lymphoma cell lines with genetically modified mouse models. The goal is to identify and functionally characterize genetic lesions affecting chromatin modifiers and transcription factors, understand their role in tumor-immune crosstalk, and develop therapeutic strategies. The fellow will be expected to perform bench work including viral transfection, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, western blotting, and mouse work such as immunization, transplant, genotyping, and colony maintenance. While prior experience in these techniques is expected, additional training will be provided. The position requires the applicant to work on site.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant biomedical field.
  • 2-3 years of wet lab experience in a relevant biomedical field (e.g., molecular biology, immunology, genomics).
  • Prior experience in techniques such as viral transfection, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, western blotting, and mouse work is expected.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in some of the mentioned techniques is expected, but additional training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Execute bench work, including viral transfection, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, and western blotting of primary and lymphoma cell lines.
  • Perform mouse work, including immunization, transplant, genotyping, and mouse colony maintenance.
  • Identify and functionally characterize recurrent genetic lesions affecting chromatin modifiers and transcription factors.
  • Determine the role of these alterations in modulating the tumor-immune crosstalk.
  • Develop specific and potent therapeutic strategies based on research findings.
