About The Position

Dr. Madhu Grover's Gastroenterology research laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join a collaborative team focused on advancing the understanding of gastrointestinal disorders through clinical, translational, and basic science research. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge research techniques while contributing to discoveries that improve patient outcomes. About the Laboratory Dr. Grover's laboratory investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying disorders of the enteric neuromuscular apparatus. The team utilizes a combination of omics technologies, molecular and cellular biology approaches, and advanced imaging techniques to identify cellular and molecular defects in human tissue samples. Research findings contribute to a deeper understanding of gastrointestinal motility disorders and the development of future diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., or Ph.D. M.D. degree in a field relevant to the research program.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to scientific rigor.
  • Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator.
  • Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants.
  • Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
  • Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.

  • Knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory-based research studies under the mentorship of Dr. Grover and collaborating investigators.
  • Perform experiments utilizing molecular, cellular, imaging, and omics-based techniques.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Participate in processing and evaluation of human tissue samples.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation, abstract development, and scientific presentations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams.
