About The Position

Assists researchers in performing a variety of routine or repetitive technical duties in a laboratory and/or on a research project. Incumbents draw largely upon their practical knowledge and experience derived from trial and error work.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and one year of appropriate experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and trains students, faculty, and other staff on instruments and biomedical research equipment (e.g. balances, HPLC, centrifuges, incubators, materials testers, microscopes/imaging systems, data acquisition systems and associated software) as well as on standard operating procedures.
  • Ensures procedures for safe use of labs, instruments and equipment according to established procedures and specifications are followed.
  • Assists with developing, purchasing materials and equipment, setting up, implementing laboratory and hands-on activities for classes/projects.
  • Aids student teams to realize prototypes of senior projects, including purchasing tasks.
  • Provide support on college initiatives, such as E-day and Career Fairs.
  • Stocks chemical, biological, and instrumentation labs, including use of appropriate purchasing systems.
  • Maintains chemical Inventory and hazardous waste programs in compliance with institutional Environmental Heath and Safety (EHS).
  • Coordinates lab safety and disposal of hazardous materials for chemical and biological labs in the College of Engineering.
  • Other duties as assigned.
