About The Position

The Cloud Technology Advancement Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking graduate/undergraduate interns to work part-time with senior technical staff to research, design, develop, integrate, and test advanced systems. This is an opportunity to work across multiple interconnected disciplines across a large team of teams. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance
Must participate in the ARL drug testing program
Must comply with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors

Responsibilities

Develop and deploy on-prem, external, and hybrid HPC (High Performance Compute) / cloud research platforms
Develop and integrate supporting AI/ML models, agentic workflows, and agentic engineering services
Develop HPC / cloud security principals, protocols, and practices from secure supply chain to
Enhance modern development practices through DevSecOps and agile methodologies
Advance existing hardware and software level Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automations
Create HPC / cloud architectural designs and documentation
Implement observability, telemetry, and monitoring solutions to collect and analyze system insights and performance data
