About The Position

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute (CHEO RI) is seeking a highly motivated Research Coordinator for the Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) Ontario and Prenatal Screening Ontario (PSO) to support its mission-driven research program. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of several qualitative research studies and projects for BORN Ontario and PSO. This role involves leveraging data assets and clinical networks to improve care and health outcomes for pregnant individuals and children across Ontario. Key activities include managing studies, collecting and analyzing primary data, preparing submissions for the Research Ethics Board (REB), conducting literature searches and summaries, supporting grant applications and publications, liaising with investigators and team members, and performing other research-related tasks. CHEO RI is the research arm of CHEO and an affiliated institute of the University of Ottawa, committed to creating new knowledge and evidence to support world-class care for children.

Requirements

  • University undergraduate degree in nursing, psychology, health sciences, or related field. (Essential)
  • Masters in a Health or research-related field. (Essential)
  • Minimum 3 years research-related experience. (Essential)
  • Understanding of clinical research design, guidelines and standards. (Essential)
  • Research Coordination experience. (Essential)
  • Qualitative research knowledge/experience. (Essential)
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office). (Essential)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills. (Essential)
  • Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism and team skills. (Essential)
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work independently. (Essential)
  • Eligible to work in Canada; Resident of Ontario or Québec
  • Compliance with CHEO RI’s occupational health, immunization, and health‑surveillance requirements, as applicable to the role and work environment.
  • Completion of a Police Record Check, in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of mixed methods research design and procedures. (Preferred)
  • Experience with REB submissions in ROMEO. (Preferred)
  • Experience building and administering surveys in REDCap. (Preferred)
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and using reference management software. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge translation experience/knowledge. (Preferred)
  • Experience with protection of personal health information and privacy requirements. (Preferred)
  • Experience in report writing, publication and communication briefs. (Preferred)
  • Bilingualism (English/French). (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Administer research studies and projects.
  • Assist with Research Ethics Board (REB) and/or grant submissions.
  • Be responsible for tracking and updating all REBs.
  • Assist with qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Assist with protocol development.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize relevant information.
  • Develop and administer surveys in REDCap.
  • Track BORN publications.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, publications, posters and presentations for conferences.
  • Perform various administrative duties related to ongoing research.
  • Coordinate, organize and chair relevant research meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by senior research coordinator and manager.
