The College of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University is seeking a Research Associate to join the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. Requirements

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of relevant professional experience (Master’s degree is equivalent to two years of experience)
  • Knowledge and ability to design, plan, conduct and coordinate experiments in support of various research projects.
  • Ability to evaluate, select, and apply standard research techniques and data collection.

Nice To Haves

  • MS degree in biological/life science
  • Two or more years of experience in a cancer biology/molecular biology laboratory
  • Experience in techniques such as cell isolation, Western blot, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, ELISA, and maintenance of animal care
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Interest in learning new techniques
  • Highly motivated and organized
  • Strong desire and demonstrated ability to advance scientific projects

Responsibilities

  • Design research protocols for lab procedure projects, including cell isolation, cell culture, Western blot, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, ELISA, immunocytochemistry/histochemistry, and flow cytometry.
  • Prepare reagents.
  • Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical, or field staff involved in research.
  • Perform general laboratory duties such as equipment maintenance and operation, and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment for data analysis.
  • Oversee and maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory animals and supplies.
  • Participate in general lab organization and maintenance.
  • Order supplies and manage inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
