About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University's Mellon College of Science (MCS) in the Biological Sciences department is seeking a Research Associate. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
1-3 years of research experience required.
Experience in bioinformatics, programming, python Nextflow and R required.
Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.
A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and publish software package for comparative genomics analyses.
Assist laboratory members with bioinformatic analyses.
Maintain organized data and scripts on laboratory’s server and GitHub.
Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures.
Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports.
May build and validate quantitative models.
Other duties as assigned.
