Research Associate in Computer Science
About The Position
The University of Virginia Department of Computer Science is hiring a Research Associate (Postdoctoral) under the supervision of Professor Haiying Shen. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research in systems for machine learning, including large language models (LLMs), and/or secure and privacy-preserving ML/LLM. Research will focus on techniques to improve system efficiency, security, and reliability. The role also offers opportunities to develop skills in student mentoring and research publication. The successful candidate will conduct research studies, collaborate with graduate students, design and evaluate experiments, analyze and interpret results, and prepare manuscripts for leading computer science conferences and journals. This is a one-year appointment, which may be renewed for an additional year contingent on available funding and satisfactory performance. The anticipated salary is $52,000–$56,000, commensurate with experience. The University will perform background checks on new hires before employment.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field by the start date.
- A strong background in ML/LLM or related areas.
