About The Position

The EHCR Group in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to join their team. The group focuses on improving the understanding of climate-related hazards such as wildfire, drought, and flood, and their effects on natural environments and human communities. They utilize advanced techniques including remote sensing, Earth system modeling, and machine learning. The research associate will specifically conduct research on human-fires interactions within the built environment, under the supervision of Professor Huilin Huang.

Requirements

  • PhD in atmospheric science, geography, environmental science, computer science, or a related discipline by the start date.
  • Strong Python and geospatial-data analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated independent research ability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
