About The Position

The Research Associate assists with the daily activities and operations of the Laboratory Sciences department, including equipment maintenance, supply stocking, and general cleaning. The role supports and performs data collection activities, including ligand binding assays, liquid chromatography mass spectrometry, and flow cytometry, as assigned.

The Research Associate prepares animal blood and tissue samples for analytical assays and performs assays according to protocols or other guiding documents, maintaining accurate documentation. The role also maintains specimen and laboratory records, reviews records and study data for accuracy, documents deviations, and assists with analytical instrument calibration, optimization, maintenance, and data collection.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a scientific discipline plus a minimum of 6 months of relevant laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and remain organized in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Intermediate computer and software skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including cleaning, stocking supplies, and equipment maintenance tasks.
• Prepare materials, including animal blood and tissues, for analytical assays such as bioanalytical, LC-MS, and ligand binding assays.
• Perform assays according to protocols or other guiding documents and document work accurately.
• Maintain and document chain of custody for specimens, reagents, controls, and samples in the laboratory.
• Maintain and update facility records related to the laboratory and its analyses.
• Review laboratory records, procedures, and study data for completeness and accuracy.
• Document deviations from laboratory procedures and study protocols, as well as unforeseen circumstances, in a timely manner and provide input for corrective actions.
• Assist with calibration, optimization, and maintenance of analytical instruments and collection of data from them.
