About The Position

We’re seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our Biotechnology Equity Research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medicine/science (PhD/MD a plus) with 2+ years of relevant experience (consulting, banking, equity research, etc.) and a strong understanding of the biotech industry/stocks.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline
2 to 4 years of relevant industry experience (consulting, banking, equity research) with a strong interest in the biotech industry
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis of biotechnology companies, assessing pre-clinical/clinical data, scientific risk, and commercial/competitive dynamics
Lead diligence calls with physicians, scientists, and other external experts
Communicate/present ideas to Analyst and develop written product synthesizing research into an informed investment thesis
Build and maintain detailed financial models, including drug forecasts, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and discounted cash flow analysis
Monitor industry and macro trends impacting the sector
Clearly state and defend the Analyst's investment thesis and outlook for each of the stocks under coverage
Respond to basic questions from institutional sales and clients regarding covered companies, and industry questions and data requests
