About The Position

Under general supervision, this role is responsible for providing information, data gathering, analysis, modeling, and organizational support to senior-level Research Analysts. The associate at this level has mastered the foundational skills required of an Associate level 1 and assumes significantly more writing and modeling responsibilities. This role is responsible for developing a solid understanding of the assigned sector and can clearly state and defend the investment thesis for all stocks in the assigned sector. The associate must be able to handle basic questions from Sales and Clients and is beginning to represent the associates in internal research presentations.

Science Background or Interest in the Biotech Field - Some education in relevant science fields, background in biotech or prior experience in drug development.
Bachelor's degree
2 to 4 years of relevant industry experience and/or proven experience at the Associate I level
SIE, FINRA Series 86, and 87 expected to be obtained upon hire
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Responsibilities

Conduct proprietary research and due diligence on companies in the biotech sector, using internal and external sources to convey a strong understanding of covered companies and their competitive landscapes.
Develop written product with modest direction from the senior-level Research Analyst regarding initiation of coverage reports, company news, and industry events.
Build and maintain Excel-based financial models, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, as well as perform multiple valuation methodologies for covered companies.
Clearly state and defend the Analyst's investment thesis and outlook for each of the stocks under coverage.
Respond to basic questions from institutional sales and clients regarding covered companies, industry trends, and data requests.
Meet the special projects demands of the senior-level Research Analyst.
Some travel by car and/or air in conjunction with local, regional and/or national travel, up to 20%.
