This role is a faculty position that also serves as the Department Chair of the Biotechnology department at Austin Community College. Provides academic leadership, management, and overall coordination to the Biotechnology Department. Serves as the budget authority for the department, represents the department on college councils, committees, and in college processes, uses collegial process to facilitate departmental decision making, and provides a collegewide instructional leadership environment conducive to student success. This position starts January 2027. The Biotechnology Program offers a variety of cutting-edge certificates and associate degrees tailored for people wanting to enter into the bioscience and biotechnology workplace. Our degrees focus on a “hands-on” training approach spanning topics from basic laboratory skills such as micropipetting and solution preparation to more advanced skills such as quantitative PCR, HPLC and cell culture. In addition, the program prepares students to work in bioinformatics, regulatory affairs, and biomanufacturing. Our department serves high school and community college students in both in-person and online instruction.
