About The Position

Under general supervision, this role provides information, data gathering, analysis, modeling, and organizational support to senior Research Analysts. The Associate II has mastered the foundational skills of an Associate I and takes on significantly more writing and modeling responsibilities. This position requires developing a solid understanding of the assigned sector, clearly stating and defending the investment thesis for all stocks within that sector. The role involves handling basic questions from Sales and Clients and representing associates in internal research presentations.

Requirements

  • Economics, Accounting, Finance, and Securities Analysis - Knowledge of economic, accounting, and financial principles and practices, the financial markets, the industry, the analysis and reporting of financial data, and associated terminology.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant industry experience and/or proven experience at the Associate I level
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • SIE, FINRA Series 86, and 87 expected to be obtained upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Science Background or Interest in the Biotech Field - Some education in relevant science fields, background in biotech or prior experience in drug development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proprietary research and due diligence on companies in the biotech sector, using internal and external sources to convey a strong understanding of covered companies and their competitive landscapes.
  • Develop written product with modest direction from the senior level Research Analyst regarding initiation of coverage reports, company news, and industry events.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based financial models, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, as well as perform multiple valuation methodologies for covered companies.
  • Clearly state and defend the Analyst's investment thesis and outlook for each of the stocks under coverage.
  • Respond to basic questions from institutional sales and clients regarding covered companies, industry trends, and data requests.
  • Meet the special projects demands of the senior level Research Analyst.
  • Travel by car and/or air in conjunction with local, regional and/or national travel, up to 20%.
