About The Position

The Research Associate provides hands-on experimental support for base editing workflows (ABE/CBE) across genome engineering programs. This role is responsible for executing experiments, generating high-quality data, and supporting workflow optimization within the Genome Engineering Technology (GET) team. The position works closely with the Base Editing Manager and cross-functional partners to advance genome editing strategies for species restoration. This is an individual contributor role that reports to the Base Editing Manager. This position will be based on-site in Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA/RNA handling, cloning)
  • Familiarity with genome editing technologies (CRISPR, base editing preferred)
  • Experience with flow cytometry or cell characterization methods is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, or related field
  • 1 or more years of relevant laboratory experience (industry or academic)
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology required

Responsibilities

  • Execute base editing experiments (ABE, CBE) in mammalian cell systems
  • Perform cell culture, including transfection, passaging, and cryopreservation
  • Prepare and handle base editing reagents, including guides and plasmids
  • Conduct nucleic acid extractions and downstream editing outcome analyses (e.g., PCR, sequencing, flow cytometry)
  • Support optimization of editing efficiency, specificity, and delivery methods
  • Maintain accurate experimental records in Benchling (ELN)
  • Assist with reagent inventory management and lab organization
  • Collaborate with genome engineering teams to support project execution
  • Troubleshoot experimental workflows and contribute to protocol improvements
