About The Position

The Department of Genome Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist Engineer 3. This researcher will perform molecular biology, cell biology, DNA sequencing, and data analysis experiments in the Dunham lab. The Dunham lab is focused on genome evolution and copy number variation in yeast using experimental evolution in the chemostat and comparative genomics approaches. We also use yeast as a platform to study the consequences of human genetic variation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in genetics, biology, chemistry, evolution, or related field
  • 4 or more years prior expertise in biology research and genomics related to yeast evolution.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in genetics, biology, chemistry, evolution, or related field
  • Experience providing guidance to students in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments on genome evolution in yeast.
  • Develop and optimize methods for genomic analysis of budding yeast.
  • Contribute to reports, publications, grant proposals, and presentations
  • Provide guidance and outreach to students.
  • Other duties as assigned
