Research Associate, Consumer Retail - Softlines
About The Position
The Research Associate supports research and analysis in the Consumer Retail - Softlines sector. The role assists with developing and maintaining company-specific financial models, research reports, presentations, and databases, and provides research support to the analyst. The associate develops sector expertise and responds to client queries related to the sector. The position regularly interacts with clients and supports the Senior Analyst, working with internal clients in sales and trading and external clients as required. The role is based in an office/trading-floor environment with little physical effort required. The environment can be high-stress and requires quick turnaround and decision-making. The position is full-time, salaried, and based at Brookfield Place, 200 Vesey Street, New York.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or similar qualification focused on Business, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields.
- FINRA licenses: Series 7, 63, 86, and 87, and SIE.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and technology publications.
- Superior customer-service focus and attitude for internal and external clients.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods.
- Commitment to tasks and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Organized self-starter able to work independently.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment.
Nice To Haves
- 1–3 years of experience in capital markets, equity research, or investment banking.
- Experience within the Consumer sector preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining detailed company-specific financial models.
- Coordinate, generate, and maintain research reports, presentations, and databases.
- Provide research support to the analyst as required.
- Develop expertise in the Consumer Retail - Softlines sector.
- Support and answer client queries related to the sector.
- Proactively identify operational risks and control deficiencies in the business.
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to business activities.
- Promptly escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies, and identified risks to the line manager and relevant risk and control functions.
- Support the Senior Analyst and regularly interact with clients.
