About The Position

The Dao Lab in the Department of Integrative Biology is seeking undergraduate research assistants/interns for projects that develop machine learning and deep learning methods to analyze drone and satellite remote sensing data for agricultural and environmental applications. The role includes lab and field spectral measurements, assistance with drone flights, remote sensing image and spectra processing, machine learning and deep learning model development, statistical analyses, and report writing. Students work independently and under the supervision of Professor Phuong Dao, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers. Training is provided in drone-flight assistance, lab and field sampling protocols, and use of advanced sensors and equipment. The position is based at UT Austin and field sites, with the possibility of some remote work. The schedule is based on applicant availability, with 10–15 hours of work per week required. The position is expected to continue through December 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension to Spring 2027 and beyond.
